Overview

Paspanguwa Peyawa is native to Sri Lanka, a recipe handed down from generation to generation through as a home remedy.

Paspanguwa as the name suggests consists of five ingredients, namely Ginger (Zingiber officinale), ‘Katuwelbatu’ (Solanum xanthocarpum), ‘Veniwelgata’ (Coscinium fenestratum), Araththa (Alpinia galanga) and Coriander (Coriandrum sativum).

Over the years Paspanguwa Peyawa has been used to alleviate fever, thirst and suppress cough. Known to pacify burning sensation, vomiting and emaciation. Is helpful with lack of appetite and indigestion.

AYULANKA Cold & Flu Remedy combines the potent herbs into a must have home remedy. This traditional herbal recipe can be used to provide relief from common cold, sore throat, cough, body ache and fever. It is especially beneficial in early stages of upper respiratory tract infections and helps improve Agni, promoting appetite and digestion. With its antiviral and immune boosting effects Paspanguwa Peyawa can be used as an herbal drink for maintaining overall health and wellness.

How to Use

Take one teaspoon of AYULANKA Cold & Flu Remedy powder to a cup of boiling hot water, cover for 15 to 20 mins and leave to infuse. Strain and drink.

We recommend taking 1 cup, once a day for general daily use. For cold flu symptoms, we recommend taking half a cup, 3 to 4 times a day.

Koththamalli, Dhānyaka (Coriander)

Most common herb used in many traditional systems to treat many disorders and is known to alleviate fever, thirst, burning sensation and suppress cough. Coriander is also known to improve sweating and improve diuresis.

Solanum xanthocarpum

Katuwelbatu, Kantakari (Wild Egg Plant)

Commonly used in the traditional medicinal system in Sri Lanka for a variety of ailments. It is known for its anti-asthmatic, hepato protective, hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, and antihyperlipidemic properties. It is used for the treatment of fever, asthma, bronchitis and urinary diseases.

Zingiber officinale

Inguru, Shunthi (Ginger)

Widely used as a home remedy for vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite, indigestion, flatulence, abdominal pain & morning sickness. In Ayurveda, Ginger is mentioned as anti-asthmatic and known to relieve hiccoughs, coughs and colds. Due to the versatility of ginger and its usage in many ailments, it is known as a universal treatment (Mahaushadha).

Coscinium fenestratum

Weniwelagata/ Daruharidra (Yellow Vine/Colombo Root)

Weniwelgata is the Sri Lankan substitute for Indian Daruharidra (Berberis aristate). Known to contain antioxidant, hypoglycaemic, antibacterial properties. Weniwelgata contains Berberine known to be antiviral and antipyretic. It is also known in Ayurveda as an appetiser, blood purifying and effective in relieving malaise.
